Varsity Basketball 

The Varsity Team Boys Team defeated Lake Mary Prep this past Tuesday night 50-42. Michael Walmer scored 15 points going 8 for 9 from the free throw line and Andre Thompson also scored 15 points, hitting 3 of 6 from the 3 point line. Allen Baez added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the win. They will now host Orangewood Christian this Friday night and then Boone High School on Saturday. Seniors Jake Bellet, Andre Thompson and Steven Santaigo will be honored before the game against Boone High School.

The Varsity Girls Basketball Team defeated Lake Mary Prep this Tuesday night 46-24. The Lady Eagles were led in scoring by Emily Carosone with 17 points and Robbi DeAngelis with 15 points. They will host Poinciana High School this Friday night at PCCA at 6:00 PM. Seniors Robbi DeAngelis, Amanda Crane and Shontavia House will be recognized before the game for Senior Night.

Middle School Basketball

The 7th Grade Boys Basketball Team won the GMAC League Championship over First Academy last week with a 28-14 victory in the championship game. Camper Van Dyke led the Eagles with 9 points, followed by Jared Anderson with 8 points and Stephen Marinas with 7 points. The team advanced to the championship game with a 57-21 win in the semifinals over Masters Academy. Isaac Anderson led the Eagles with 14 points, with Stephen Marinas and Jared Anderson both also scoring in double figures. The team finished the season with a 13-1 record and we would like to congratulate Coach Dan Scheid and the entire team on a great season.

Touchdown Club Athletes of the Week

Conrad Walko

The Orlando Touchdown Club honored Josh Kerlin as the Week 10 Defensive Player of the week and Conrad Walko as the Week 11 Defensive of the Week. Josh set a school record with 5 sacks and Conrad had 19 tackles. They were invited to Varsity Club to receive their awards and hear guest speaker Paul Kennedy of SunSports Network.  

            

        

Showdown for the Scepter

Daniel Doll 4 Yard TD Run

The Varsity Football Team defeated The First Academy 26-20 last Friday night and returned the Scepter to Pine Castle. Daniel Doll scored the game winning 4 yard touchdown with 37 seconds left in the game and the Eagles recovered the following kickoff to secure the victory. Senior Quarterback Michael Slack rushed the ball 15 times for 140 yards and one touchdown and was 6 for 9 for 107 yards passing, including a 68 yard touchdown pass to Jake Bellet. The defense was led by Devin Miles, Tyler and Conrad Walko who each had over 10 tackles and a sack by Miles.

2009 FACA District 10 1B Player & Coach of the Year

David Langdon

Congratulations to David Langdon and Michael Slack on being named as the Football District Coach and Player of the Year. Coach Langdon has been the Varsity Football Coach at Pine Castle for 5 years, compiling a 38-15 record and winning 3 District Championships and 1 District Runner-Up. This year his team has gone 7-1 (6-0 District) heading into the final game of the season.

Michael Slack 

Michael Slack, the Eagles starting senior Quarterback, has led the team in rushing with 539 yards and 6 rushing touchdowns. He has also set school single season records with 844 yards passing and 11 passing touchdowns.

              

FHSAA Academic All-State Team

Robbie Haben 

Congratulations to Robbie Haben on being named to the FHSAA Academic All State Team. The FHSAA only selects 24 student athletes from across the state for this honor and Robbie joins Kory Pugh as the only Pine Castle students ever named to this team. Robbie will receive a $1000 award and medallion and will attend a banquet on June 4th at the Orlando Airport Marriott. There is a link below to the FHSAA website that lists the qualifications for the award and all 24 athletes named to the team.

Orlando Sentinel High School Sports Reporting Institute

Congratulations to Pine Castle Senior Brenttnie Williams on being named to the Orlando Sentinel High School Sports Reporting Institute for 2009. Brenntnie was one of nine high school students selected and will participate in a sports writing mentor program and get an opportunity to write articles on sporting events in Central Florida for the Orlando Sentinel Sports Section. All Central Florida Team

Congratulations to both Dejai Oliver and Emily Carosone on being named as All Central Florida Team members in their respective spring sports. Dejai, a senior baseball pitcher, was named to the first team and help lead his team to the Regional Finals and pitched a perfect game in his final high school start. He ended the season with an impressive 0.90 ERA and will be attending Seminole Community College on an athletic scholarship in the fall. Emily, a freshman softball infielder, was named to the second team and completed her 4th year on the varsity team. She helped the Lady Eagles to a Regional Semifinal appearance and has been a key member on both of Pine Castles State Championship teams.

     

Eagle Exchange

PE Uniforms are now in and available in the Eagle Exchange. Extras can be purchased for $10 each. 

The Athletic Department is selling the old White Football Game Jerseys for $25 per jersey. There are still plenty of jerseys left and they are the jerseys from Pine Castle's inaugural season. You can contact the athletic office at 407-438-2742 to select from the remaining jersey numbers. The money collected from the sales will go to purchasing new football jerseys next season.
